Globalization is the worldwide integration and development. There are multiple perspectives on Globalization by those that oppose it and those that support it. Those that support it say that it is benefiting the country simply because of the monetary value on it. Also, the progress that the world has taken is not only benefiting some but a large sum of people. Those who oppose it understand the damage that Globalization has done to the environment and human life. Therefore, Globalization can support and damage the world, but today Globalization is a contributor to the issue of Diabetes because of the growing corporations of the pharmaceutical and food industries. These industries are killing people on a daily basis and there is not escape from them because we cannot go back in time to stop the world from “developing”.
First, the pharmaceutical industry was to provide medications to those that were in need of it. The medications were to be regulated to be safe for humans to consume. The price for these medications were suppose to be reasonable for people to purchase and the accessibility rate was not so high because no everyone had the access to pharmaceutical drugs. As time went on and the word continued to develop the pharmaceutical industry continue to develop as well. The industry lost its vision along the capitalist mentality that is embedded with Globalization. As stated by, (David Henry, Joel Lexchin 2002) the rising prices of essential drugs is putting people beyond the reach. Therefore, the cost of medication has risen that not all common man can afford them. Along with the price raising the accessibility has risen too. Many more doctors are prescribing a drug for one illness and then five more for the side affects. It saddens many people that an industry that was designed to destroy illnesses is giving more health effects to those that consume these medications. It is assumed that the pharmaceutical industry wants to keep people sick in order to continue to make money of the medications. So, it is not a complex industry if one can understand their language which is money and power. There is no mystery behind why people are getting sicker everyday and why the prices of drugs are increasing each day. Moreover, Globalization created these “developments” within the pharmaceutical industry and now the food industry is headed in the same direction.
Second, the food industry was to be regulated that the food was edible for people to consume. As, Globalization continued to spread the “development” of fast food restaurants began to spread at the same rate. These fast food places began to increase in popularity because the price of the food was/is cheaper than a home cooked meal. As people continue to support these fast food places little do they know the indirect and direct cost of human life and the environment. People that consume the food will eventually have some type of illness but the most probable is type 2 Diabetes. The rates of how people are consuming fast food are about or higher than the rates of the illness that can occur because of the consumption. Also, these fast food places are hurting the environment because to get their food they are using one strand of the same potatoes for example and it is destroying the land simply because the land needs biodiversity in what it grows in order to maintain proper and reusable. Therefore, Globalization is to blame for the food industry destroying human life with the unhealthy food that is provided and the environment for lack of biodiversity. Along the same line the other contributor for these unnatural purposes to destroy human life and the environment is technology. Technology goes hand in hand with Globalization and destruction of the world.
Moreover, the technological innovations of the 21st century impact de debate of Globalization because it is another contributor to the “development” which has been destruction for the human race. As technology develops more everyday humans lose their humanity because now all of the technology which builds machines is being replaced by humans. The jobs that humans used to operate are now taken up by a machine that produces faster, less time, and less money over the long term. Therefore, technology has a huge impact on Globalization because the world will be operating with machines and will eventually wipe out the human race. Also, people have become so attached to the new developments of technology such as phones, TVs, and computers that they are too losing their humanity since they depend on these items to survive. Technology was used to operate differently and today humans have abused the privilege to have access to technology because we are all animals and animals were not supposed to be living the way we are today. Technology will continue to develop but unfortunately we won’t be here to see it because there will be no human race.
In order for human race to survive Globalization there needs to be a limited access to technology. There needs to be more regulation on corporations/industries. Limited access in general is what need to done in order for the world and human race to survive. As, accessibility becomes limited people are able to value their lives and the environment in a different way. The regulating should be more strict and enforced by the government otherwise these corporations should be punished with being shut down immediately instead of being billed because it is obvious they can pay that off and continue to destroy human life and the environment. This will be effective because large corporations be afraid to lose business so they will have to follow the rules and in an ideal world they will not find loop wholes and the government would not bail them out. Next, limited technology will afford people with more knowledge because as technology becomes easier to adapt to the less educated humans become because they have everything available in a few seconds. This will be effective because if people are limited to technology they are forced to go back in time and use text books to read for example and will be more resourceful of their technology there will not be an abuse. In conclusion, Diabetes is an affect of Globalization due to the pharmaceutical and food industries that continue to grow because of technology. In order for Globalization to diminish technology, drugs, and food need to be more regulated and limited otherwise the human race will die.
It is clear that Globalization is to blame for Diasbetes increase. As the portions get bigger one gets bigger with them without realizing it. There needs to be astop to the growing food corporations that are keeping us sick.
